JPG, PNG, or WEBP when batch-compressing?

Short answer: Photos and most shop/social shares lean JPEG (or WEBP when the receiver supports it). Icons, UI shots, and transparency need PNG. Compression means quality and edge length—not renaming the file. Open BulkCrunch, then fine-tune with quality and max edge.

1. Choose by use case, not folklore

WEBP is often smaller than JPEG in similar looks—that is qualitative, not a fixed percentage promise. Email and some older stacks still prefer JPEG. Ask the channel what it accepts, then unify.

2. PNG: transparency first, edge length next
